Membership is open to interested applicants after they have attended at least 2 general meetings.
Membership benefits include a monthly newsletter subscription; use of society's shop tools, with appropriate instruction and supervision; educational programs at monthly meetings; field trip participation; lapidary arts classes at reduced cost; access to the society's library of books, DVD's and Video tapes; exchange of information regarding lapidary arts from a community of enthusiasts. .
Annual dues are due in November for the following year. 2010 Membership fees are $25 for adults, $15 for each additional adult in the household, $5 (each) for youth (ages 10-18) or children (ages 4-9). New members pay an additional $6 initiation fee per person. Late joining new members may have lower dues as they are prorated after mid-year.
All applicants must complete a Liability Waiver.
Club chairmanships or offices are open to all active adult members. The success of the overall program is dependant upon participation by all members. Members are encouraged to participate in as many of the activities and events as they are able and to assist with club leadership responsibilities.
Our youth ("Little Chippers") are offered participation in the Future Rockhounds of America program which meets separately from the general meetings. This program is designed to meet the abilities of children of differing ages and interests. The FRA is a program sponsored by the American Federation of Mineral Societies.
